MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUES:
Programming the Instrument

Sounds kind of logical, this being that an instrument needs to be programmed correctly in order to get valuable results from it. Yet, I have been given databases that have been close to useless on, let's just say more than one occasion!

The first important thing to be careful of is fundamental frequency. This one is not as obvious as it would seem, an we delve into the reasons first.

Then comes multipliers. Having the wrong multiplier can make for interesting tracing of some issues, but I have a strong belief in making life as easy as possible!

It's all a matter of timing. It sounds daft to set a recorder to record for two weeks when all that one wants to capture is a motor start. Oh yes, it still happens!
